Food Allergy Oral Desensitization
We are one of only a few outpatient clinics in the United States that are currently treating patients with a process called Food Allergy Oral Desensitization. Previously, once a patient was diagnosed as having a particular food allergy, avoidance of that offending food was the only treatment option. Now, through a delicate process called oral desensitization, our office is able to gradually reintroduce the allergic food back into the diet of the patient under a strict protocol.
This has proven highly successful for most patients. Any patient that is 4 years or older, with a documented food allergy to milk, egg, wheat, peanut, rice, soy and/or tree nuts, is eligible for this process. However, there are exclusionary criteria that may prevent us from performing this protocol of desensitization.
