An Unwelcome Guest: Mold

AllergiesAllergyAsthma

It’s the last thing you want to hear… you’ve got MOLD! You value an open and welcoming home, but mold? Mold growth in damp and poorly ventilated places, like bathrooms, can happen to the best of us. And it can wreak havoc on your nasal passages and respiratory system. So, how did it get here?

Moisture:

Bathrooms exposed to moisture from showers, baths, sinks and toilets. When water accumulates on surfaces such as walls, ceilings, grout, and shower curtains, it creates a prime breeding ground for mold. Make sure your fixtures are leak-free and keep the restroom clean and dry!

Poor Ventilation:

Inadequate ventilation in bathrooms traps moisture inside, allowing it to linger and accumulate on surfaces. Without proper airflow, moisture remains trapped, promoting mold growth. Use your bathroom fan regularly!

Organic Matter:

Mold requires organic matter to grow. In bathrooms, that’s skin cells, soap scum and hair. Clean your shower after each use to limit the organic materials left behind.

Once you’ve got your mold problem under control, be sure to schedule a consultation with us to make sure you can breathe easily and enjoy the rest of your spring!

Southwest Allergy and Asthma Center offers comprehensive allergy testing to treat the root cause. Schedule an appointment to see how allergy testing can help you.
